These unbefitting actions were necessary for Barbie Hsu, known among her friends as “Her Majesty”, who was to play the lead role from high school years to adulthood. In the beginning, Barbie’s character had to endure many criticisms as a newbie in the industry, thus explaining the “torture” she was being put through despite her status as a superstar.

In addition, Barbie has a complicated relationship with both Peter Ho and Huang Xiao Ming vying for her love, a type of love which the female lead describes as suffocating and abusive.

In order to fulfill the depiction of the lead character as having beautiful black hair and smooth white skin, Barbie has also taken pains to maintain her fair complexion, ie carrying an umbrella during the breaks to block out harmful UV rays. Although both male leads laughed at her in the start, Peter Ho eventually joined her in the activity as the director complained that he was getting too tan for his role.

Best Film Actress (Forbidden City Cop)

Barbie Xu, accepted the award for Best Film Actress (Taiwan) for her role in “Forbidden City Cop” (On His Majesty’s Secret Agent) during The Channel V’s 14th Chinese Music Awards and Asian Influence Award held in Chengdu, China. The awards night was graced with big stars in Chinese music and the entertainment industry.

The official trailer for the movie Future X-Cops starring Barbie Xu and Andy Lau has been released for quite sometime. Now, the official posters have come out as we move towards the showing date.

The film is directed by Wong Jing and it is about a super hero from the future who travels back in time to protect a child who is pursued by assassins.

The film is will be released March 30th.

It was a dream come true for Barbie Xu to be cast in a movie together with her idol star Andy Lau for the first time. It was even more of a dream when she gets to “kiss” him for their movie “Future Cop”. Da S felt the luckiest girl alive and was excited for months until the day of filming for the kissing scene with Andy arrived where she got nervous and felt her whole body froze. “While filming that scene, I was really nervous, when Andy approached me, my whole body tensed, and thinking in my heart, is it real ?”

Da S ( 徐熙媛 / 大S ) also expressed that it was worth it and hoping for even more kissing scenes for the film. “I didn’t dare to feel. At the time I only focused on my acting and did my best pretending to be calm. If the director had added another kiss scene it would have been so great!”

PETA and Barbie have also teamed up for an ad that features a cuddly costar—an adorable piglet—and the message “Compassion Is Beautiful. Go Vegetarian!” Hsu originally wore a white top during the photo shoot, but it became soiled when the piglet had an “accident” while Hsu was holding him. Unfazed, Hsu joked, “That’s not mine!” Hsu thought of naming her new friend “Bacon” for fun but feared that the piglet might really become someone’s breakfast someday. Instead, she named the piglet Dai Dai in memory of her beloved dog, who passed away a few years ago. The new Dai Dai has been adopted into a loving home.

Hsu joins a host of international stars—including Pamela Anderson, Natalie Portman, Sir Paul McCartney, and Maggie Q—who have kicked the meat habit. Photographer Chen Man shot Hsu’s PETA ad. Hsu’s stylist was Sheila Liao, and her makeup and hair were done by Chiu Ya-li.
